Over 10 Years of Helping Women in Transition Succeed

mother and daughters Life Skills Workshop, Inc. (LSWI) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) community-based organization whose mission is to empower women re-entering the workforce with the skills, knowledge and support needed to transform their lives.

Founded in 1997 and incorporated in 2000, the agency has a ten-year history of providing job readiness training and mentoring services for women in need. The women that we serve are transitioning from homelessness, incarceration, chemical addiction recovery or domestic violence situations.  Their average age is 34 years old and most are single mothers with two children.  The mission is accomplished by helping women develop the skills to secure and retain employment, explore career development options beyond minimum wage employment, maintain their physical and mental health, and develop positive relationships.

LWSI gives women a chance for a new direction, goal directed behavior, security and stability within a framework of positive values.

A Message from Our Director

Dear Friends & Partners of Life Skills Workshop:

It is our continuing goal to play an active role in uplifting, motivating and restoring our communities through the successful participants of Life Skills Workshop, Inc. I consider it a privilege and an opportunity to be working with so many friends and partners of Life Skills Workshop, Inc. Your dedication and support has enhanced the lives of many women and their families. Numerous untold stories of achievement were revealed because of your staunch support. We are continuing to seek undiscovered treasures within the women that will pass through the doors of Life Skills Workshop, Inc.

This may be your first time visiting our website and you may be wonder how I can become a part of such a dynamic group of volunteers and supporters that have been so instrumental in making a difference in the lives of women in transition and their families. It's quite easy, we are always looking for community minded working women willing to give of their time and wisdom to support women who have been faced with challenges and need a little help getting on their feet.

We have a professional women’s clothing closet in which we are able to provide professional clothing like suits and blouses for women who have started the arduous task of getting back into the workforce and need clothing for that purpose. We accept seasonal new and like new business attire for our clothing closet. To make an in-kind donation of clothing or to support our programs financially please go to our "You Can Help" page where you can find out exactly how you can help. Please support us as we empower more women transforming their lives.
